Renault creates 270-hp electric 8 Gordini concept — Motor1
In France, Renault has created the 270-hp electric Renault 8 Gordini concept with rear-wheel drive. The two-seat coupe reinterprets the classic Renault 8 Gordini model, combining its recognizable design elements with modern proportions and an electric powertrain.
As Motor1 reports, the concept's final design was developed following an internal competition that received more than 300 sketches. Two proposals reached the 2:5-scale model stage, after which Renault combined individual solutions into the car's final design.
Dimensions and electric drive
The Renault 8 Gordini Concept is 4.12 meters long, 1.88 meters wide, and 1.27 meters high. The car features 19-inch front wheels and 20-inch rear wheels. A 270-hp electric motor drives the rear wheels. Renault calls this layout a reference to the original 8 Gordini, which also had rear-wheel drive.

The concept's body is finished in blue, inspired by the Bleu de France shade. Styling references to the historic model include twin white stripes, square wheel arches, round headlights, and the rear-end design. A recessed body line characteristic of its predecessor directs air to a vent in the new car.
Interior details and Paris display
The twin white stripes were integrated into the design of the grille at the base of the windshield, the rear-light graphics, and the interior. At the top of the instrument panel, they transition from white to blue. The interior features a minimalist dashboard with aluminum trim, a row of small round digital displays, seats upholstered in blue corduroy and Alcantara, and a red stopwatch button.
Renault does not plan series production of the 8 Gordini Concept: the car was created as a one-off design study. The concept is due to be shown at the Paris Motor Show in France, which will run from October 12 to 18, 2026.
