The gunman who opened fire in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv killed five people, including a hostage at a supermarket.
This was reported by Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko.
According to him, the gunman began his rampage on Demiivska Street and shot four people along the way. The fifth victim was a hostage at “Velmart.”
Negotiations with the attacker lasted about 40 minutes before the assault, but he did not respond. After the hostage was killed, the decision was made to storm the building.
Klymenko also noted that the shooter possessed a legally registered firearm.
