SIMÓN, an artist from Yerevan, will perform in the Eurovision semifinals

SIMÓN will represent Armenia in the second Eurovision semi-final today. The artist has come a long way from being a dancer in show business to becoming one of the country’s most prominent young singers, according to the official Eurovision website.

In Armenia, he has long been known as an energetic performer who is equally confident both on stage and in front of the camera. But SIMÓN is heading to Eurovision not as a dancer, but as an artist who has finally decided to focus primarily on music.

SIMÓN was born in the city of Hrazdan in Armenia. His family joked that he learned to sing and dance before he could speak. From childhood, he performed constantly, loving the stage and the attention of the audience. Despite his love for the arts, after high school he enrolled in university to study economics. But he never ended up working in that field. “I realized very quickly that I couldn’t live without the stage,” the artist said.

Instead of an office, SIMÓN chose show business. At first, he worked as a dancer for many years and became one of the most famous performers on the dance scene in Armenia. He was often invited to appear on TV shows, at concerts, and in music projects.

Later, the artist began to actively pursue singing. In recent years, he has been working as the lead performer at one of Yerevan’s most famous music clubs. There, he quickly gained popularity thanks to his live performances and highly emotional delivery. SIMÓN has performed at festivals throughout Armenia and has also begun to build a large following on social media.

In 2025, the artist first attempted to qualify for Eurovision through the national selection Depi Evratesil. He placed second, though he received the highest scores from both the international and local juries. Afterward, many fans wrote that SIMÓN was the one who should have represented the country. A year later, the Armenian broadcaster ARMTV finally invited the artist to the contest.

There were almost no major scandals surrounding the singer, but after the national selection in Armenia, disputes arose regarding the voting results. Some fans claimed that SIMÓN was “condemned” by the audience, even though the jury had ranked him very highly.

His flamboyant stage style was also actively discussed on social media. Some criticized the artist for overly emotional and “theatrical” performances, but his fans consider this his main selling point. “I want people to remember not only the song, but also the energy,” SIMÓN said.

The artist also makes no secret of the fact that he has worked hard on himself in recent years—both vocally and physically. “I used to be known as a dancer. Now I want to be heard as a singer,” he said before the contest.

Today, SIMÓN will perform sixth in the second Eurovision semifinal. A total of 15 contestants will take the stage to compete for a spot in the contest’s grand final.

The organizers of Eurovision 2026 explained the contest’s voting rules.

Eurovision organizers issued a warning to Israel for violating the voting rules.

Bulgarian singer DARA will open the second Eurovision semi-final today. The artist has long been considered one of the leading stars of the modern Bulgarian pop scene—her tracks garner millions of streams, and the singer herself regularly appears on music charts not only in Bulgaria but also across the Balkans.

Azerbaijani singer JIVA will perform today in the second Eurovision semi-final. This is not the artist’s first time in the contest—back in 2011, she was among the finalists in Azerbaijan’s national selection, and now she returns as one of the country’s leading music stars.

Romanian singer Alexandra Căpitănescu will take the stage in the second Eurovision semi-final today. The artist rose to fame after winning “The Voice of Romania” in 2023 and is now considered one of the country’s most promising young performers.

Eva Marija will represent Luxembourg in the second Eurovision semi-final today. Her musical journey began at the age of three—after she saw Oleksandr Rybak win with the song “Fairytale” at Eurovision 2009.

23-year-old Daniel Zizka will represent the Czech Republic in the second Eurovision semi-final today. The young artist is already being called one of the most promising new voices on the Czech music scene.
