ABC publishes Spicks and Specks music quiz

ABC News Australia has published a music quiz related to the Spicks and Specks program. The test consists of 10 questions about performers, bands, albums, musical terms and song titles.

Artists, bands and albums

Participants are asked to identify the Australian artist known for the hits Shine and Absolutely Everybody. Other tasks include naming the band fronted by Michael Stipe and recalling the title of Björk's first album.

A separate question concerns songs titled War: participants must determine which was released earlier — the version by Bob Marley and The Wailers or that by Edwin Starr. The quiz also asks readers to recall the year when Bon Iver won a Grammy in the Best New Artist category.

Songs and musical terms

The test includes a question about which voice is higher — soprano or alto — as well as one about Paco Peña, a renowned flamenco guitar performer. In one task, participants must choose the missing number in the title of a Hilltop Hoods song, while another asks them to find the common missing word in song titles.

The quiz description also mentions Paul Simon's song ________ on the Soles of Her Shoes: readers are asked to name the missing word. Spicks and Specks can be watched on the ABC iview platform or on ABC TV every Wednesday at 8:30 p.m.
