DARA is the first to take the stage in the second Eurovision semifinal

Bulgarian singer DARA will open the second Eurovision semifinal today. The artist has long been considered one of the leading stars of the contemporary Bulgarian pop scene—her tracks garner millions of streams, and she regularly tops the music charts not only in Bulgaria but also across the Balkans, according to the official Eurovision website.

DARA stands out for her vibrant style, experimentation with sound, and highly emotional stage presence. It is precisely thanks to this that she has managed to build an image as an artist who effortlessly blends pop music, electronic, dance, and Balkan motifs.

The singer rose to fame after appearing on a talent show in Bulgaria, where she quickly caught people’s attention with her voice and charisma. After that, her career took off. Her tracks “Thunder,” “Call Me,” and “Mr. Rover” brought her the most fame. These songs stayed at the top of the Bulgarian radio charts for weeks and made DARA one of the country’s most famous young artists.

In addition to music, DARA was actively involved in television. In 2021 and 2022, she served as a mentor on the show “The Voice of Bulgaria,” where she helped young performers build their music careers. In Bulgaria, she is often called an artist of the new generation—bold, open, and ready to break the usual rules of the pop scene.

In 2025, DARA released the album “ADHDARA,” which she herself called her most personal project. In it, the singer spoke extensively about her inner struggles, the pressure of fame, emotional ups and downs, and life under constant public scrutiny. It was after this release that people began talking about her more widely, even beyond Bulgaria’s borders.

There were also scandals surrounding the artist. DARA was criticized several times for overly provocative looks and daring music videos. Her performances often sparked debates on social media—some fans admire her freedom and energy, while others consider her style too outrageous for the Bulgarian scene. DARA herself takes it in stride. “I don’t want to be everyone’s cup of tea. If people are arguing about my music—it means it’s gotten to them,” the artist said in an interview.

DARA has also spoken openly on multiple occasions about her fatigue with fame and the psychological pressure. The singer admitted that at times it was difficult for her to cope with the hate and constant attention on her personal life.

Today, DARA will be the first performer in the second Eurovision semifinal. A total of 15 artists will take the stage to compete for a spot in the contest’s grand final.

The organizers of Eurovision 2026 explained the contest’s voting rules.

Eurovision organizers issued a warning to Israel for violating the voting rules.

Moldovan artist Satoshi will be the first to take the stage in today’s Eurovision semifinal. In just a few years, he has gone from a young man from a small town to one of Moldova’s most prominent young musicians, and his name has been the subject of heated discussions on more than one occasion.
