James Blunt Sparks Controversy Over Photo Wearing Russian Emblem
Famous British singer James Blunt, known for global hits like You’re Beautiful and Goodbye My Lover, has found himself at the center of a major scandal.
The artist posted a photo on the social media platform Threads in which he wears a Ushanka hat featuring a clear depiction of the Russian coat of arms — the double-headed eagle.
The Ukrainian community reacted immediately and strongly. Hundreds of comments under the post accused Blunt of being insensitive to the war in Ukraine and effectively endorsing the symbolism of the aggressor nation.
Among those responding was Ukrainian musician and founder of the “Cultural Desant” initiative, Kolya Serha, who advised the British singer to “take that rubbish off” and suggested he should thoroughly “wash his head — inside and out.”
Most commentators stressed that, amid Russia’s full-scale aggression, Western celebrities displaying Russian state symbols is unacceptable.
