The World Creole Music Festival will take place on October 23–25, 2026, in Roseau, the capital of Dominica. The three-day event’s program will feature bouyon, zouk, soca, dancehall, kompa, and cadence-lypso — musical genres of the Caribbean region.

Finale of Creole Heritage Month

As The Rio Times reports, the festival is traditionally held at the end of Creole Heritage Month in Dominica. Its conclusion coincides with the celebrations of Jounen Kwéyòl, or Creole Culture Day, which is observed around October 24.

The festival presents musical traditions from different parts of the Caribbean. Bouyon and cadence-lypso are associated with Dominica, zouk with the French Antilles, kompa with Haiti, soca with Trinidad, and dancehall with Jamaica.

Event in Roseau

Dominica is located in the Lesser Antilles between Guadeloupe and Martinique. The island is known as the “Nature Island”; the source mentions its volcanic landscape, tropical forests, rivers, and black-sand beaches. Festival week is the busiest period for Roseau, where concert venues and street food stalls operate during the event.

Visitors are advised to book flights and accommodation in advance, as the number of places on the island is limited. October in Dominica falls during the wet season, so light rainwear is recommended for the trip.
