During the broadcast of the second semi-final of Eurovision 2026, an Israeli commentator publicly expressed support for Ukraine following the performance by Ukraine’s representative, Leleka.

On Israel’s state broadcaster’s live broadcast, the commentator noted that this marks Ukraine’s fifth time participating in the contest amid a full-scale war and expressed solidarity with the Ukrainian people.

“We are talking about the fifth Eurovision Song Contest that Ukraine is participating in during a war. We stand in solidarity with the Ukrainians, who mostly sing about current issues affecting their country. Glory to Ukraine!” he said.

A clip from the broadcast quickly went viral on social media.

The Israeli Friends of Ukraine community responded to the gesture, thanking him for his public show of solidarity with Ukrainians during the international music contest.

Following the results of the second semifinal, both Ukraine and Israel advanced to the Eurovision 2026 Grand Final.
