Hollywood actress Cate Blanchett has been invited to teach contemporary theater at St. Catherine’s College, University of Oxford, during the 2026–27 academic year.

This prestigious academic position was established in 1990 to bring leading experts from the global industry into the educational process.

Cate Blanchett has won two Oscars for her remarkable career—first for her portrayal of Katharine Hepburn in *The Aviator*, and then for her role in Woody Allen’s *Blue Jasmine*.

The 57-year-old actress gained worldwide fame for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth I in the 1998 film *Elizabeth*.

The star’s professional career extends beyond film, as she has also performed for many years in the West End and on Broadway.

According to the approved program, the actress will give lectures and engage with students and the broader university community. The course organizers expect her classes to generate significant interest among young people.

The actress shared her vision of the role of culture in the modern educational landscape.

“Art breaks down the boundaries and limits of our imagination; it raises questions, and engaging with and analyzing it expands and challenges our contemporary reality. My years of creative practice have allowed me to sharpen my sensitivity to ideas and have offered paths to understanding,” she added.
