The Dovzhenko Film Studio has been added to the list of "treasures of European film culture"

The Oleksandr Dovzhenko National Film Studio has been included in the list of “Treasures of European Film Culture” compiled by the European Film Academy (EFA).

This was announced by the Ukrainian State Film Agency on its Facebook page.

"The European Film Academy’s decision confirms the film studio’s status as one of the key centers of film production in Eastern Europe and an important part of European cultural heritage."

It is noted that the initiative, launched in 2022, highlights locations that hold special historical and symbolic significance for European cinema.

The updated list also includes cinemas and film sets in Berlin, Stockholm, Riga, and Tallinn.

The Oleksandr Dovzhenko Film Studio was founded in 1927, and over a thousand films have been produced there during its history. Among others, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Serhiy Paradzhanov, and Leonid Bykov worked at the studio.
