The Kyiv Opera will conclude its 44th season with the premiere of Charles Gounod’s opera *Romeo and Juliet*
Preparations have begun at the Kyiv Opera for the premiere of Charles Gounod’s opera *Romeo and Juliet*, with which the theater plans to conclude its 44th season. The start of work on the production was announced on the theater’s official social media pages.
As noted in a post on the theater’s official Facebook page.
The team has already held its first creative meeting with the theater’s vocal soloists. Participants included Petro Kachanov, artistic director of the Kyiv Opera; Dmytro Todoriuk, stage director of the upcoming production; and Dmytro Kuryata, costume designer.
During the meeting, the director shared the concept for the upcoming production, the theater director announced the cast of soloists for the premiere, and the designer presented the first costume sketches.
“We’ve started preparing something very special for you! So we’re finally announcing that we’ll be closing this theater season with one of the most romantic love stories—the premiere of Charles Gounod’s opera ‘Romeo and Juliet,’” the theater’s statement reads.
The Kyiv Opera also noted that the team has months of rehearsals, set construction, and costume sewing ahead of them. The theater plans to gradually introduce audiences to the production process and the creative team behind the show.
According to the theater, ticket sales for the premiere are scheduled to begin in the near future.
