Korea Herald names films released in August
Korea Herald published a selection of films released in theaters in August 2026. The list includes the American science-fiction adventure film “The End of Oak Street,” the South Korean comedy-drama “The Journey to Gyeongju,” the American-British war drama “Warfare,” and the fantasy drama “The Odyssey.”
Premieres on August 26
“The End of Oak Street,” directed by David Robert Mitchell, was released on August 26. The plot follows a family fighting for survival after their suburban neighborhood is transported to the age of dinosaurs.
On the same day, “The Journey to Gyeongju,” directed by Kim Mi Jo, was released in theaters. The film tells the story of a mother and her three adult daughters who set out on a journey to avenge the murder of the youngest daughter.

“Warfare” and “The Odyssey”
The war drama “Warfare,” directed by Ray Mendoza and Alex Garland, premiered on August 19. Its plot centers on a reconnaissance mission by a U.S. Navy SEAL platoon in insurgent territory that ends in a brutal failure.
“The Odyssey,” directed by Christopher Nolan, was released on August 5. Matt Damon plays the Greek king Odysseus, who undertakes a long and dangerous journey home after the Trojan War to reunite with his wife and son.
