New Found Glory to play EPCOT shows in honor of guitarist Chad Gilbert — Rolling Stone
American pop-punk band New Found Glory has canceled its performance at the Aftershock festival in Sacramento, USA, and will play its upcoming shows at EPCOT at Walt Disney World Resort in honor of co-founder and guitarist Chad Gilbert. Rolling Stone reports.
Cancellation of the Sacramento performance
In a social media statement, the musicians thanked fans for their support following Gilbert's death. The band explained that it decided to withdraw from Aftershock in order to have time to process the loss. The festival performance had been scheduled for next week.
New Found Glory noted that Gilbert was a major Disney fan and had been eagerly awaiting the EPCOT shows. According to the band members, he had been working with them on the setlists and rehearsing to be ready to take the stage.

Concerts in memory of the musician
The musicians believe that the EPCOT performances are a fitting way to honor their colleague, as he himself wanted to play at these shows. The band released the setlist for the upcoming shows, which includes, among others, My Friends Over You, Dressed to Kill, and Hit and Miss. New Found Glory said it will dedicate every note at these performances to Gilbert.
New Found Glory and the musician's wife, Lisa Cimorelli, announced Gilbert's death on September 20. Six months earlier, the guitarist said he was battling brain cancer; he had previously been diagnosed with liver cancer in 2021.
Chad Gilbert founded New Found Glory in 1997 with Jordan Pundik, Ian Grushka, and Steve Klein, when he was 17 years old. He wrote most of the band's songs, including My Friends Over You and Head on Collision.
