British actor Tim Curry, star of The Rocky Horror Show, dies
British actor Tim Curry has died at the age of 80. He was best known for playing Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the film The Rocky Horror Picture Show. ABC News Australia reports the actor's death. The cause of death was not disclosed.
Film and voice acting roles
Curry also gained popularity for his portrayal of the clown Pennywise in the 1990 adaptation of Stephen King's novel It. In films, he often played villains, including in Charlie's Angels, Muppet Treasure Island, The Shadow, The Three Musketeers, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, Clue, Legend, and Annie.
The actor had a distinctive baritone and worked extensively in voice acting for animated films and series. In 1991, he won a Daytime Emmy Award for his work on the animated series Peter Pan & the Pirates.

Curry was nominated for a Tony Award three times for Broadway roles: in 1981 for portraying Mozart in Amadeus, in 1993 for My Favorite Year, and in 2005 for playing King Arthur in Monty Python's Spamalot.
In 1973, he was cast as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the original London production of The Rocky Horror Show. After performances in New York and Los Angeles, it was adapted for the screen under the title The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The film later gained cult status thanks to midnight screenings, which viewers often attended dressed in costumes of the characters.
In 2011, Curry withdrew from a British theater production due to his health condition. In 2013, his agent said that the actor had suffered a stroke. After that, he used a wheelchair and reduced his workload, but in 2024 he returned to the big screen in the horror film Stream.
