Raye performs at MTV VMAs in Los Angeles — Rolling Stone
Singer and songwriter Raye performed at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards ceremony at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, United States. As Rolling Stone reports, it was her first solo performance at the MTV VMAs.
String section and barefoot performance
Raye took the stage with a string section of six musicians and more than a dozen additional performers. She opened the number with the song “I Will Overcome,” which references the artistic legacy of the late Amy Winehouse. The artist initially wore a long white fur coat, before performing “Where Is My Husband?” in a sparkling red dress.
The 28-year-old singer performed barefoot. The number included an updated audio recording of her grandmother, whose voice is also heard in the original studio version of the song. In the recording, her grandmother urges Raye to be patient and assures her that her husband will appear. The singer also incorporated a musical interpolation of the disco-funk hit “Funkytown” into the performance.
