Singer Oliver Tri dies in plane crash in Brazil – The Guardian

American musician Oliver Tree died at the age of 32 in a collision between two helicopters over Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Five other people were on board with him; all six people involved in the crash died. 

According to The Guardian, the artist was in the country as part of his world tour, having performed a concert in São Paulo on June 6, and was set to begin the European leg of the tour in Lisbon in July. 

Among the other victims of the crash were producer Lucas Brito Chaves, Argentine YouTuber Gaspar Prim, director Lucas Vignale, and pilots Alexandre Souza and Charles Marcillac. An investigation is currently underway to determine the causes of the collision between the two aircraft, one of which carried only the pilot, while the other carried five passengers. Oliver Tri had a million-strong following on social media and Spotify, gaining popularity thanks to hits like “Life Goes On,” “Miss You,” and “Alien Boy,” as well as a nomination for the 2024 Brit Awards. The artist, who also made it into the Guinness Book of World Records for creating the world’s largest scooter, was remembered by his ex-girlfriend, singer Melanie Martinez, who called him a deeply inspiring true artist with a tender heart.

At least six people were killed in Brazil as a result of a major plane crash involving two helicopters that occurred west of the metropolis of Rio de Janeiro Fire department spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Fabio Contreras reported from the scene that it is currently unclear exactly how the accident occurred. According to him, experts are carefully examining the wreckage and radar data.
