Seven-day dance festival begins in Accra, Ghana
Ghana Dance Festival 2026, a seven-day program featuring performances, masterclasses, dance battles, seminars and social dancing, began in Accra, Ghana, on September 15, 2026. The festival, organized by Dancetera, will run until September 21 at several venues in the Ghanaian capital, MyJoyOnline reports.
The opening took place at Zen Gardens in the Labone district during the Social Dance with KwanPa session. The program featured highlife, jama, traditional dances and azonto.
Dance evenings and classes
Akwaba Night with AKC is scheduled for September 16 at Coconut Grove Regency Hotel, starting at 6:30 p.m. This will be followed by a party with Kiz Infinity at Luna Bar in the Airport district, expected to begin at 10:00 p.m.
On September 17, African Regent Hotel will host Salsa Rave (The Reunion), with classes and social dancing from 7:00 p.m. The following day, Accra City Hotel in Accra's central business district will host Kizomba Rave, whose program also includes lessons and social dancing.

Final program
The festival's main event is scheduled for September 19 at Alliance Française in the Airport district. It will begin at 9:00 a.m. and continue into the night; the program includes performances, masterclasses, battles, seminars and social dancing.
On September 20, the festival will continue with the El Partido Afro Latin Rave event at Rehab Beach Club in South Labadi Estates. Salsa, kizomba, bachata and Afro styles will be presented there. Aerobics and Celebrity Games at Aviation Social Centre are expected to conclude the week-long program on September 21, running from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Planned activities include football, basketball and table tennis.
Ghana Dance Festival has been held for more than ten years: its first edition took place in Accra in 2015. At the festival launch, organizer Robert Kla said it was created to celebrate dance, bring dancers together and help industry professionals build sustainable careers.
