In Karachi, Pakistan, the one-day Kaleidoscopic Karachi show was held as part of LAAM Fashion Week 2026, dedicated to color, cultural identity and the city’s changing image. The runway at the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture featured collections by Pakistani fashion houses Deepak Perwani, Wardha Saleem, Khaadi, The Pink Tree Company and Sana Safinaz.

Participants in the show combined Eastern and Western silhouettes, interpreting Karachi’s colors, its contrasts and contemporary fashion trends. Guests included representatives of the fashion and entertainment industries, including Sharmila Faruqui, Ali Khan, Sarwat Gilani, Fahad Mirza, Magin Khan, Preshay Adnan and Zainab Qayoom.

Return of 1990s models

One of the evening’s highlights was the runway appearance of 1990s models Fareeha Altaf and Simi Pasha. Their appearance recalled a period that played an important role in shaping Pakistan’s fashion industry.

Designer Hassan Sheheryar Yasin, known as HSY, said he was pleased by the coming together of designers from different parts of Pakistan. According to him, participants viewed one another’s collections and supported their colleagues. He also said that the event demonstrated Karachi’s creative potential, which, in his opinion, had not been this visible for a long time.

As The Express Tribune reports, HSY called LAAM Fashion Week an important platform for the further development of the country’s fashion industry.

Tapu Javeri retrospective

A separate part of the event was a retrospective by photographer Tapu Javeri, dedicated to four decades of his work. The exhibition presented a selection of his photographs tracing changes in Pakistani fashion and its aesthetics.

Javeri recalled that shooting on film required special attention because of the limited number of frames on a roll. In his view, Photoshop significantly simplified photo editing, while artificial intelligence ushered in a new stage in which it is possible to create a large number of images and alter almost any detail in a photograph.
