Macklemore ticket prices rise in the US after removal from Sheeran tour — CNBC Top News
In the United States, resale prices for tickets to rapper Macklemore’s October solo concert at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado rose after he was removed from the remainder of Ed Sheeran’s tour. According to CNBC Top News, the price of the cheapest available ticket increased by 45% in three days, from $108 to $157.
Rise in prices for Macklemore’s concert
Macklemore’s Red Rocks concert was announced back in March. Keith Pagello, founder of the price-tracking service TicketData, linked the current surge to this week’s events. According to him, such a sharp price increase would not have occurred without the latest news surrounding the performer.
Macklemore said on social media that he was removed from the Loop tour after stadium owners threatened to cancel concerts over his pro-Palestinian statements from the stage during a performance at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on September 4. On Thursday, the rapper also said he would donate $1 million in tour earnings to Palestinian humanitarian organizations.

Prices for Sheeran’s concerts
Following Macklemore’s removal, other opening acts — Finneas, Aaron Rowe, Beoga, and Lukas Graham — said they would also leave Sheeran’s tour. It is currently unknown who will perform at the concerts in their place.
TicketData, which compiles statistics from SeatGeek, Vivid Seats, Gametime, and StubHub, recorded ticket price declines at nine of the ten venues where Sheeran performances are still scheduled. At the same time, Pagello noted that lower prices ahead of concerts are typical for the market: this summer, ticket prices for Sheeran’s North American performances fell by an average of 22% during the final two weeks before the shows.
According to Pagello, the volume of ticket resales for Sheeran’s upcoming concerts has also increased since Monday, although prices continued to decline. Sheeran himself said on Instagram that the decision to remove Macklemore was made by the promoter, not by him personally.
