SAYA International Music Festival to Be Held in Daegu — Korea Herald
The three-day SAYA International Music Festival will begin on Friday at Sayuwon, a mountain garden in Gunwi, Daegu, South Korea. Its main stage will be the open-air Symphony 6 concert hall, Korea Herald reports.
The garden and concert hall
Sayuwon is located at the foot of Mount Palgongsan and covers approximately 495,000 square meters. The garden has 108 quince trees, whose average age exceeds 300 years. Its grounds also feature architectural structures created by Korean and international architects. In recent years, the garden has expanded its wellness program by adding exhibitions and performing arts.
The open-air Symphony 6 concert hall was designed by Italian architect Andrea Liverani. The corten steel structure, conceived as a combination of steel and nature, has a folded, origami-like form. The hall's name refers to Ludwig van Beethoven's Sixth Symphony, known as the “Pastoral.” The structure was selected as one of the winners of the International Architecture Awards 2026 in the public spaces category.

Festival program
At the opening, the Korean National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by French conductor Adrien Perruchon, will perform Beethoven's Sixth Symphony against the backdrop of Mount Palgongsan.
On the second day, bass Lim Chae-jun and soprano Cho Sun-hyeon will perform opera arias and Korean songs in the Love Songs program. The contemporary dance troupe Ahn Eun Me Company, led by Ahn Eun-me, will present the world premiere of Dance of Thought: This Way and That Way, created for Sayuwon.
On September 20, the Picasso Ensemble will perform the Walking and Singing in Nature program at the Hanyusigyeong Waterfront Stage. The festival will conclude at Symphony 6 with the concert opera Opera Doppelganger: Verdi vs. Puccini, featuring works from Giuseppe Verdi's “La Traviata” and Giacomo Puccini's “Madama Butterfly.”
