Kuwait restores crude oil exports to about 1 million barrels per day — OilPrice
Kuwait has restored crude oil exports to approximately 1 million barrels per day. According to a representative of the state-owned Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC), this is about two-thirds of the 1.6 million barrels per day that the country shipped through the Strait of Hormuz before the war with Iran.
Transshipment outside the strait
As OilPrice reports, Kuwait has increased supplies in recent weeks, including through ship-to-ship oil transfers outside the Strait of Hormuz. Sheikh Khaled Ahmad Al-Sabah, KPC’s managing director for international marketing, said this at the Asia Pacific Petroleum Conference in Singapore.
According to him, KPC can supply oil to all customers, although some volumes remain lower than before. Buyers wishing to receive oil outside the Strait of Hormuz will have to pay more, as KPC factors in the risks of passing through this maritime chokepoint. At the same time, customers willing to load oil in the Persian Gulf will be offered discounts.

Supply volumes
Kuwait and other Persian Gulf producers are using cargo transportation outside the strait followed by the transfer of oil to other vessels. Total daily flows through the Strait of Hormuz are currently estimated at approximately 10 million barrels, of which about 9 million barrels are crude oil and the remainder petroleum products.
By the end of August, Qatar and Kuwait had reportedly increased crude oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz to 70% of pre-war levels, following the United Arab Emirates’ practice of transshipment in the Gulf of Oman. According to TankerTrackers.com, Kuwait’s crude oil exports in August were 36% below the January–February 2026 baseline. At the same time, Kuwait was among the Gulf producers that managed to restore the largest share of lost shipment volumes.
