Reduction in diesel excise duty

Italy still has a reduction in excise duty on diesel fuel of 17 euro cents per litre in force. The government of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni introduced the measure at the end of July to help the population cope with high fuel costs after the conflict in the Persian Gulf resumed.

Since then, the excise duty reduction has been extended several times. The current measure expires on Thursday, but the Italian government is expected to extend it again.
