In China, about 80% of Shenzhen power grid inspections can be conducted remotely

In Shenzhen, China, about 80% of field tasks for power grid inspections can now be performed remotely. China Southern Power Grid announced this at the 2026 International Digital Energy Exhibition, ECNS reports.

Video surveillance and artificial intelligence

China Southern Power Grid’s visual monitoring platform manages 160,000 cameras. It also has access to more than 60,000 urban video streams in Shenzhen. This enables operators to inspect power grid facilities remotely, while artificial intelligence systems help identify potential hazards.

Digital grid model

At the exhibition, the company presented a digital twin of the city’s power grid linked to Shenzhen’s urban information modeling platform. Such a system provides a panoramic view of the grid within the city.

In addition, China Southern Power Grid demonstrated the Tianquan energy market solver. According to the company, it supports round-the-clock operation of the Southern Regional Electricity Market and processes more than 7,000 nodes, 3 million constraints, and 4 million variables.
