Emergency power outages have begun in Ukraine due to the heat

Due to abnormally high temperatures in several regions of Ukraine, emergency power outages began on June 29. The restrictions are being implemented to stabilize the power grid under conditions of increased load.

Emergency power outage schedules are in effect in at least several regions of Ukraine:

  • Khmelnytskyi;
  • Rivne.

Regional power companies report that the cause is extreme heat.

Due to extreme weather conditions, emergency power outages have occurred in certain areas of the city and region,” says Khmelnytskyi Oblenergo.

Oleksandr Koval, head of the Rivne Regional State Administration, reports that the abnormal heat has led to an overload of the power grid. This is causing power outages.

“Power company employees are working around the clock, responding promptly to such incidents,” he said.

Earlier, Mykolaivoblenergo added that from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., hourly power outages may be implemented on a single rotation basis.

As a reminder, Ukrenergo has warned of possible prolonged power outages this summer.
