Access Bank appoints Orimoloye as risk director — Premium Times Nigeria

Nigerian group Access Holdings has appointed Ifedayo Orimoloye as executive director for risk management at its flagship subsidiary, Access Bank. The appointment was approved by the Central Bank of Nigeria and will take effect on September 21, 2026.

Regulatory approval

The company announced the personnel decision in a regulatory filing signed by group secretary Sunday Ekwochi. As Premium Times Nigeria reports, the appointment was made in accordance with regulatory requirements and the bank's corporate governance framework.

Access Holdings Chairman Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede said Orimoloye's experience in global risk management and strategic leadership is expected to strengthen Access Bank's risk management framework. According to him, the bank's new board member will also contribute to implementing the group's value-creation-oriented approach.

Experience in the financial sector

Orimoloye has more than 25 years of experience working at financial institutions in Africa, Europe and the United States. His specialization includes enterprise-wide risk management, capital optimization, credit management, regulatory compliance and strategic transformation.

His most recent position was chief risk officer at the African Development Bank. There, he was responsible for a portfolio exceeding $40 billion and, according to the company, helped maintain the institution's AAA ratings from Moody's Investors Service, S&P Global Ratings and Fitch Ratings.

Previous positions

Previously, Orimoloye held senior risk positions at Sterling Bank Plc, Ecobank Transnational Incorporated, Wells Fargo Bank, HSBC and Citigroup. He also participated in capital markets transactions and securitization, including initiatives to expand access to renewable energy in Africa.

The new executive director holds two bachelor's degrees, in economics and finance, as well as an MBA in finance from California State University, Hayward.
