Australian market set to rise after Wall Street gains

The Australian stock market is forecast to open higher following a positive close on Wall Street. ASX 200 futures gained 0.4% to 8,979 points, according to ABC News.

Stock index performance

The Dow Jones rose 0.6%, the S&P 500 gained 0.5%, and the Nasdaq Composite added 0.2%. Meanwhile, European indices declined: the FTSE by 0.3%, the DAX by 0.5%, and the Stoxx 600 by 0.2%.

Oil, gold and currency

The price of Brent crude rose 0.7% to $95.32 per barrel. The spot price of gold increased 1.3% to $4,386 per ounce. ABC News also reported that Australian and US bond markets had stabilized.

The Australian dollar fell 0.1% and traded at 71.62 US cents. Iron ore declined 1.6% to $97.80 per tonne, while bitcoin fell 0.2% to $77,290. The quoted prices were current at approximately 7:20 a.m. Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST).
