Hanwha expands cooperation with Abu Dhabi in digital finance — Korea Herald
Financial subsidiaries of South Korea’s Hanwha Group signed a series of partnership agreements in Seoul with Abu Dhabi institutions to develop digital finance, stablecoins and cross-border financial infrastructure. The agreements were reached during the Abu Dhabi Investment Forum at the JW Marriott Hotel Seoul, The Korea Herald reports.
Digital finance and capital markets
Hanwha Life signed an agreement with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office. The partnership covers the creation of a digital finance ecosystem, the establishment of links between the financial and capital markets of South Korea and Abu Dhabi, as well as the development of digital banking and financial innovation.
The forum was attended by Hanwha Life Vice Chairman and CEO Kwon Hyuk-woong, Hanwha Life Vice President and Head of Global Strategy Kim Dong-wook, and Hanwha Asset Management CEO Lim Dong-jun. Abu Dhabi representatives included Abu Dhabi Investment Office CEO Badr Al-Olama and ADIO Financial Services Sector Head Fatima Al-Hammadi.

Stablecoins and cross-border payments
Hanwha Asset Management also signed a trilateral agreement with Abu Dhabi Global Market and Hana Financial Group to develop stablecoins and financial infrastructure. The parties plan to develop solutions for cross-border payments and money transfers between South Korea and Abu Dhabi, while supporting an interoperable digital asset ecosystem.
Hanwha’s financial companies separately agreed with Abu Dhabi Global Market to cooperate within Abu Dhabi Finance Week 2026. During the 2025 event, Hanwha identified joint investments in real assets, supply chain financing, cross-border payment infrastructure and digital asset platforms as potential areas of Korean-Emirati cooperation.
Lim Dong-jun said the agreement would contribute to the development of a stable and interoperable digital asset market and strengthen Abu Dhabi’s role in the global financial system. Fatima Al-Hammadi described South Korea as a key partner market for Abu Dhabi and noted that cooperation could extend to joint investments and the development of new business.
