Exchange rates in Ukraine as of May 1: The dollar and euro have fallen sharply

The beginning of May was marked by a significant strengthening of the hryvnia: on the morning of May 1, the dollar and the euro dropped noticeably. The largest declines were recorded at Monobank and Oschadbank, where the currency fell by 15–17 kopecks.

The Ministry of Finance explains what exchange rates PrivatBank and PUMB are offering and where it is most advantageous to buy currency today.

 

Exchange offices: The dollar fell to 43.80 UAH, and the euro dropped to 51.60 UAH. These are among the lowest rates in recent days.
Monobank: Leading the decline, the dollar fell by 17 kopecks (44.23 UAH), and the euro by 16 kopecks (51.81 UAH).
Oschadbank: The mobile app offers a favorable dollar rate of 44.15 UAH. The euro also fell to 51.80 UAH.
PrivatBank: At branches, the dollar can be purchased for 44.20 UAH, and the euro for the same price (51.80 UAH).
"PUMB": Lowered the commercial dollar rate to 44.10 UAH, and the cash rate at teller windows to 44.30 UAH.
Tip for readers: If you plan to buy currency today, consider non-cash transactions via mobile apps (Oschad, PUMB) or the rates at major currency exchange chains—there, the price is 10–15 kopecks more favorable than at most bank teller windows.

As of the morning of May 1, the average dollar exchange rate at currency exchange offices for buying, according to the Ministry of Finance, is 43.80 (-10 kopecks) hryvnia. You can sell currency at a rate of 43.70 (-10 kopecks) hryvnia.

You can buy euros at currency exchange offices today at an average rate of 51.60 (-6 kopecks) hryvnia, and sell them at 51.40 (-7 kopecks) hryvnia.

Banks are selling dollars today at an average rate of 44.22 (-7 kopecks) per hryvnia, while you can sell currency at 43.77 (-3 kopecks) per hryvnia.

Banks are selling euros today at 51.80 (-10 kopecks) per hryvnia and buying them at 51.10 (-15 kopecks) per hryvnia.

PrivatBank sells dollars at teller windows at 44.20 (-10 kopecks) per hryvnia, and via card at 44.24 (unchanged) per hryvnia. Euros can be bought at branches for 51.80 (-10 kopecks) per hryvnia, and via non-cash transactions for 51.81 (unchanged) per hryvnia.

Oschadbank sells dollars via its mobile app at 44.15 (-5 kopecks) hryvnia, and by card at 44.30 (-5 kopecks) hryvnia. The euro can be purchased via Oschadbank’s mobile app for 51.80 (-15 kopecks) hryvnia, and by card for 52 (-10 kopecks) hryvnia.

"Pumb" is currently keeping the dollar exchange rate for purchases at the teller window at 44.30 (-10 kopecks) hryvnia, and the commercial rate at 44.10 (-10 kopecks) hryvnia. Euros can be purchased at bank branches for 51.90 (-10 kopecks) hryvnia.

Monobank sells dollars at 44.23 (-17 kopecks) hryvnia and euros at 51.81 (-16 kopecks) hryvnia.

As a reminder, the dollar and euro rose slightly on April 30.

The National Bankof Ukraine updated the hryvnia exchange rate against the dollar and the euro as of April 29.

Prior to this, the National Bank updated the hryvnia exchange rate for April 27.

As a reminder, the morning of April 24 saw mixed trends in Ukraine’s currency market. While the cash dollar is showing a steady rise of 5–10 kopecks, the euro is losing value significantly at most major financial institutions and exchange offices.
