Ukraine needs $95 billion in external financing for 2026–2027 — Marchenko

Ukraine’s external financing needs for 2026–2027 amount to $95 billion, of which $52 billion for 2026 has already been secured.

This was stated by Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko during a meeting of the G7 finance ministers in Paris, the Ministry of Finance reported.

According to him, due to the war, the Ukrainian economy contracted in the first quarter of 2026, and inflation accelerated again in April after several months of deceleration.

At the same time, state budget revenues for the first four months of the year increased by 17.2% compared to the same period in 2025.

Marchenko also emphasized the urgent need for funding to restore energy infrastructure.

Separately, he spoke positively about the Ukraine Support Loan mechanism from EU partners, which is set to become one of the key instruments for supporting Ukraine’s macrofinancial stability in 2026–2027.

The Ministry of Finance also stated that Ukraine continues to cooperate with international partners and the IMF to implement structural reforms and ensure the long-term sustainability of public finances.

The NBU updated exchange rates: the dollar and euro fell, while the zloty rose.

As a reminder, the National Bank of Ukraine set the official exchange rates for Friday, May 15.
