Uzbekistan bans cash purchases of cars, apartments, and even drinking water
Uzbekistan has become the first country in the world to prohibit cash payments for purchasing cars, apartments, alcohol, tobacco products, and even drinking water. This move aims to combat the shadow economy and encourage a shift towards cashless payments.
The government plans to increase the share of cashless transactions to 75% by 2030, which is expected to improve financial transparency and reduce illegal economic activities.
