Seoul clinic says it is developing AI system for patients from 103 countries — Korea Herald

Lee Moon Won Korean medicine clinic in Seoul said it is developing an artificial intelligence-based system to support patients being treated for hair loss. According to the clinic’s chief physician, Lee Moon Won, the facility has maintained contact with patients from 103 countries over the past three years.

The doctor wrote about the plan in a column for the Korea Herald. He described a message from a patient in Dubai who, after a consultation in Seoul, receiving a prescription and returning home, asked whether treatment could continue. In the author’s view, such a request indicates a need for continuous contact between a patient and a specialist after a clinic visit.

Monthly data monitoring

According to Lee Moon Won’s description, the system will provide for monthly recording of data on scalp condition. If changes are detected, the data will be reviewed by a Korean medicine doctor, who will send the patient a message. The author claims that this approach should make it possible to maintain contact with patients not only in Seoul but also, in particular, in Dubai, New York and Tokyo.

Care after returning home

The doctor noted that after diagnosis in Seoul, patients return home with prescriptions and an individual care regimen. He included the use of shampoo, herbal remedies, hair nourishing products and combing in this regimen. At the same time, the author acknowledged that the remote format is not equivalent to a doctor’s constant presence alongside the patient.

According to him, about one in five foreign patients returns to Seoul each year. Lee Moon Won believes that the development of remote support could help maintain this connection without another trip.
