After a lull, a new magnetic storm will hit Earth
The period of relatively calm geomagnetic conditions is coming to an end. A new magnetic storm is expected in the coming days, which may affect the well-being of weather-sensitive people, as well as the operation of certain communication and navigation systems.
Currently, the solar wind speed is slightly above background levels, and no significant increase is expected on July 8.
However, on the 9th, a high-speed stream from a coronal hole will reach our planet. This is expected to trigger a G1-level magnetic storm that will last at least two days, on July 9 and 10.

This is according to the British Geological Survey.
As a reminder, several periods of solar activity are expected in July 2026, which may affect the well-being of weather-sensitive people and the operation of electronic devices.
