During the flu, SARS, and COVID-19 season, more than 4.2 million Ukrainians fell ill
During the 2025–2026 flu season in Ukraine, 4,236,118 people contracted the flu, acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI), and COVID-19, with more than half of them being children.
This was reported by the Center for Public Health.
According to the Center, 22,121 people tested positive for COVID-19 during this period. A total of 119,799 patients were hospitalized with ARVI, and another 7,100 with COVID-19. A total of 199 people died from ARVI, including 12 children.
The Public Health Center noted that the epidemic season proceeded steadily, without placing an excessive burden on the healthcare system.
As a reminder, people who received the mRNA vaccine against COVID-19 had a significantly lower risk of death from both the disease itself and from any other causes.
French scientists from the Pasteur Institute warn that the H5 avian influenza virus could pose a more serious threat to humanity than COVID-19 if it mutates and begins to spread between people.
