The AMCU has called on mobile operators to stop manipulating "unlimited" internet plans

The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine has instructed Vodafone, Kyivstar, and lifecell to cease disseminating inaccurate information about “unlimited” data plans. According to the agency, advertisements promising unlimited data mislead consumers, as in reality, after a certain amount of data is used, the connection speed drops significantly.

This was reported by the committee’s press service, noting that such restrictions make full use of online services practically impossible.

The committee found that operators conceal the actual terms of service by placing information about limits in fine print or in hard-to-access reference materials. Because of this approach, subscribers do not receive clear information when choosing a plan and assume there are no actual speed limits. The AMCU emphasizes that concealing such essential service characteristics constitutes a violation that prevents consumers from making informed decisions.

Operators must bring their communications into compliance with the law so that the term “unlimited” does not contradict the technical realities of the rate plans. If internet speed decreases after a certain gigabyte limit is reached, this information must be communicated to customers in an accessible and understandable manner. Currently, the agency expects companies to rectify the situation regarding the promotion of services across all communication channels.

The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine stated that it currently sees no signs of monopolistic abuses in the fuel market, despite the sharp rise in prices.

The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine has denied a request by the Emirati defense holding company EDGE Group to acquire a stake in the Ukrainian company Fire Point, which develops Flamingo cruise missiles and long-range drones. The agency rejected the application to purchase shares worth $760 million because the submitted documents did not meet the established criteria.
