Kyivstar plans to re-elect Pompeo and Shymkiv to the board of directors

Kyivstar plans to re-elect Pompeo and Shymkiv to the board of directors

Kyivstar, Ukraine’s largest mobile operator, plans to extend the terms of all 10 members of its board of directors at its annual shareholders’ meeting on May 12. Among them are former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and former head of Microsoft Ukraine Dmytro Shymkiv.

According to the company, the board is also expected to include Serdar Çetin, Brandon Lewis, and Kaan Terzioglu.

According to the financial report, 2025 was a period of rapid growth for the operator: revenue increased by 30.3% to 48.2 billion UAH. Revenue from digital services grew sixfold, and a strategic partnership with SpaceX significantly improved connection quality. As of the end of 2025, the company served over 22 million mobile subscribers.

Plans to stabilize Kyivstar’s leadership are being implemented amid preparations for a massive nighttime UAV attack, as warned by President Zelenskyy, and energy crises, such as the power outage in parts of Chernihiv on April 14. While Ukrainian businesses are strengthening corporate governance, the Russian economy officially entered a systemic recession in April 2026, widening the technological and financial gap between the two countries. The shareholders’ meeting will also consider amendments to the charter to optimize the executive compensation system.

Kyivstar has acquired the internet provider Shtorm in the Kirovohrad region.

Mobile operator Kyivstar is raising the prices of certain rate plans that have remained unchanged for over a year. The new prices will take effect on a specific date to be announced by the company.

As a reminder, Uklon generated over $21 million in revenue for Kyivstar in the second quarter of 2025.
