1.3 million Ukrainians have already taken advantage of the fuel cashback program
In Ukraine, 1.3 million people have taken advantage of a special fuel purchase reimbursement program, which allows them to save significantly on filling up their cars.
According to Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko’s Telegram post on April 5, the initiative provides for a 15% refund on diesel, 10% on gasoline, and 5% on autogas. At current gas station prices, this allows for savings of up to 2 UAH per liter of gas and up to 11 UAH per liter of diesel fuel.
The maximum cashback amount is 1,000 UAH per month, and the program will run until May 1, 2026. Citizens can use the funds received to pay for utilities, purchase medicines, books, Ukrainian products, or to support the Ukrainian Armed Forces. In total, 4.4 million Ukrainians are already using the “National Cashback” program, and over 200,000 new accounts were opened following the launch of the fuel component. The development of such social initiatives is taking place alongside the restoration of international transport routes, while Russia continues to create energy challenges for the region.
As a reminder, the European Commissioner for Energy has warned of possible fuel rationing in the EU.
We also reported that South Korea is urging people to save every drop of fuel amid the crisis in Iran.
