Industrial production in Cyprus rose by 1.5% in July — Cyprus Mail

In Cyprus, the industrial production index increased by 1.5% year-on-year in July 2026, reaching 129.2 points, based on 2021 equaling 100 points. This was reported by Cyprus Mail, citing the Statistical Service of Cyprus.

In January–July 2026, the index rose by 1.6% compared with the corresponding period of 2025. Manufacturing output in July increased by 1.5% compared with July last year.

Performance of key sectors

The largest annual increase among the main industrial sectors was recorded in water supply and materials recovery, at 8.2%. Mining and quarrying increased by 6%.

Electricity supply was the only main sector where production declined, falling by 1.1% compared with July 2025.

Changes in manufacturing

Among individual manufacturing activities, the production of other non-metallic mineral products posted the largest increase, rising by 6%. The manufacture of wood and products of wood and cork, except furniture, increased by 5.1%.

The manufacture of furniture, other manufacturing activities, and the repair and installation of machinery and equipment rose by 3.8%. Output of basic metals and fabricated metal products increased by 3.7%, while electronic and optical products and electrical equipment rose by 2.8%.

The manufacture of textiles, clothing and leather products increased by 2.3%, while rubber and plastic products rose by 2%. At the same time, the manufacture of food products, beverages and tobacco products increased by only 0.2%.

The sharpest decline in July was recorded in the manufacture of machinery and equipment, motor vehicles and other transport equipment, down 6.8%. The manufacture of paper, paper products and printing declined by 4.7%, while petroleum products, chemical and pharmaceutical products fell by 2.9%.

Indicators for seven months

In January–July, the collection, treatment and supply of water showed the most dynamic growth, up 11.7% year-on-year. The manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products increased by 5.7%, while wood and cork products rose by 4.8%.

Over the same period, materials recovery declined by 6.6%, while the manufacture of machinery, vehicles and other transport equipment fell by 5.5%.
