Restaurants are preparing for rising food prices and operational disruptions this winter

Ukrainian restaurants are preparing for a difficult winter due to possible blackouts and water supply disruptions.

Restaurants predict a 5–10% increase in the prices of meals and coffee due to costs associated with generators, fuel, ingredients, salaries, and utilities.

During power outages, restaurants plan to turn on equipment based on priority, which may result in some dishes being temporarily removed from the menu.

The most challenging scenario for restaurants could be water supply issues. According to restaurant owners, it is still possible to operate on a limited basis without electricity, but a prolonged lack of water would effectively make it impossible for the kitchen to function.

Demand for restaurant services is already declining. In the first seven months of 2026, the average check increased by 17%, while restaurant foot traffic decreased by 14%.
