Tesla sales decline despite Elon Musk’s optimism about autonomous cars

Tesla Inc. ended last year on a wave of optimism fueled by Elon Musk’s enthusiasm for autonomous vehicles, but actual sales declined. According to Bloomberg data, Tesla is expected to have delivered around 440,900 vehicles in the fourth quarter, down 11% from a year earlier, despite setting a delivery record in the third quarter.

Tesla’s stock surged in the second half of last year, mainly driven by Musk’s promises of breakthroughs in artificial intelligence and robotics. However, these advances have not translated into increased sales, highlighting the company’s challenges in winning over actual car buyers amid fierce competition in the electric vehicle market.

Looking ahead, Tesla will face significant challenges related to maintaining demand amid rapid industry growth and heightened competition. The decline in sales volume may affect investor confidence and require the company to implement new strategic measures.
