A major international conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine, URC 2026, will be held in Gdańsk
The Polish city of Gdańsk will host the International Conference on Ukraine’s Recovery (Ukraine Recovery Conference — URC 2026). UA.NEWS will serve as the media partner for the event’s key side events.
The event will bring together international leaders, government officials, business representatives, non-governmental organizations, and leading experts to develop strategies for long-term modernization, attract investment, and coordinate efforts in the process of rebuilding the Ukrainian state. Official details of the event are available on the conference platform.
Special attention at the international forum will be focused on specialized side events taking place as part of the European track—EU Dimension Side Events. These panel discussions and roundtables will focus on Ukraine’s integration into the EU’s internal market, the adaptation of legislation to European standards, cross-border cooperation, and the development of joint infrastructure and energy projects.
Specifically, the following side events are planned:
Trust by Default: How EU-Aligned Procurement Supports Ukraine’s Recovery.
This side event will bring together the key architects of Ukraine’s procurement infrastructure: the Ministry of Economy, Prozorro, professional procurement organizations, civil society, and international financial institutions. We will explore the transformation of the system, focusing on alignment with the EU, resilience during wartime, the need for professionalization, and how the integration of Prozorro and DREAM ensures transparency. Through specific case studies, with an emphasis on European business participation and independent civil society monitoring, the event will provide practical evidence of the system’s trustworthiness, accountability, and readiness to manage recovery risks in real time.
Science for Ukraine’s Recovery
Organized by the Joint Research Center (JRC) and the Lukasevich Research Network, this in-person event will highlight strategic, evidence-based support for Ukraine’s recovery as part of its EU accession process. Through four thematic panels focused on smart specialization, agricultural resilience, energy security, and sustainable infrastructure development, the event will bring together JRC staff and stakeholders from the Ukrainian and Polish research communities, enabling the identification of synergies between these strategic sectors. In this way, the event will support a coordinated approach to recovery that aligns with Ukraine’s priorities regarding EU accession.
Ukraine’s Green Recovery
The Ukraine Green Recovery Platform (UGRP) was established by the governments of Ukraine and Germany, together with UNEP, UNECE, and the OECD, at the URC 2024 in Berlin. A side event at the 2026 Ukraine Recovery Conference titled “Ukraine’s Green Recovery: Challenges and Opportunities” will bring together high-level representatives from the Ukrainian government, the EU, international financial institutions, and the donor community to take stock of progress in investments in environment-related infrastructure and mobilize broader financing for Ukraine’s green transition. By aligning reconstruction priorities with EU accession requirements and specific investment opportunities, this side event aims to generate actionable proposals and new partnerships that will move green recovery from ambition to reality.
On the Road to the URC: Reflections on Europe’s Strategic Autonomy
A seminar on the train from Warsaw to Gdańsk aims to use the travel time to discuss, with a broader audience of stakeholders (government, administration, business, diplomats), the conclusions and recommendations developed during two events organized by CIR and THINKTANK and their partners in Warsaw on the eve of the URC:
the “Better Europe” Leaders’ Forum (June 22–23)—a gathering of opinion leaders, experts, and think tanks from all EU member states and partner countries (EEA, Switzerland, the United Kingdom), who traveled to Poland to discuss the current situation in the EU in the context of “enlargement pressures.”
European Youth Forum dedicated to the URC (June 22–23) – a gathering of young people (aged 25 and under) from various European countries to discuss the five main themes of the URC and develop several concrete solutions for moving forward.
Prospects and the Future of the Ukrainian Insurance Market: Strengthening the Insurance Sector’s Role in Ukraine’s Recovery and Mitigating Investment Risks
The event will provide a platform to present the latest developments in the Ukrainian insurance market, showcase the coordinated efforts of regulators and market participants, highlight successful international partnerships, and discuss practical mechanisms that can support investment and recovery efforts. It will also help strengthen cooperation between Ukrainian insurers, international financial institutions, investors, and global insurance groups.
The UA.NEWS news agency has officially become the media partner for these European side events.
