Mitsui Ocean Sakura cruise ship to enter service in Japan — The Japan Times
In Yokohama, Japan, cruise company MOL Cruises is preparing to put the Mitsui Ocean Sakura liner, whose cabins are all suites, into service. The vessel is scheduled to begin operations on Saturday, The Japan Times reports.
Replacement for Nippon Maru
Before its debut, Tokyo-based MOL Cruises, an affiliate of shipping company Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, organized a tour of the vessel for journalists in Yokohama. Mitsui Ocean Sakura is the successor to the Nippon Maru cruise liner, which completed 35 years of service.
The new liner has 229 guest cabins and five restaurants. Foot baths are available by the pool. The largest cabin, the 87-square-meter Signature Suite, has large windows overlooking the sea.

Short sea voyages
The vessel, about 200 meters long, will mainly be used for short cruises lasting from one to three nights. Prices for a three-day voyage scheduled for January 3, 2027, start at 194,000 yen per person. The itinerary includes a journey through the Seto Inland Sea, departing from and returning to the port of Kobe.
MOL Cruises President Tsunemichi Mukai said at a ceremony in Yokohama that the company aims to provide guests with special and unforgettable experiences. The company also expects to attract demand for cruises aboard the Mitsui Ocean Fuji liner, which debuted in late 2024.
