Ukrainian seaports have handled 40 million metric tons of cargo since the beginning of the year

Since the beginning of 2026, Ukrainian seaports have successfully handled 40 million metric tons of cargo, with more than half of this volume—over 20 million metric tons—consisting of agricultural products intended to ensure food security for dozens of countries around the world. This achievement was made possible by the uninterrupted operation of the Ukrainian Maritime Corridor, which continues to serve as a pillar of the national economy and a vital link in global logistics chains.

This was announced by Oleksiy Kuleba, Minister of Community and Territorial Development. The minister emphasized that this significant result was achieved despite ongoing military aggression by Russia, which has launched more than 1,500 attack drones at Ukrainian port infrastructure since the beginning of the year.

In total, since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russia has damaged or completely destroyed 966 Ukrainian port infrastructure facilities and more than 200 civilian vessels. As a result of enemy attacks on port facilities, 257 civilians were injured or killed. Oleksiy Kuleba emphasized that the current volume of cargo transportation is the result of coordinated efforts by port workers, sailors, railway workers, logistics specialists, the business community, the military, and Ukraine’s international partners.

Since the Ukrainian maritime corridor began operations, more than 197 million metric tons of cargo have been transported through Ukrainian ports. Of this amount, approximately 117 million metric tons is grain.

We previously reported that Ukraine exported approximately 85 million metric tons of cargo via the maritime corridor, of which 56 million metric tons were grain.
