Cyprus to hold ninth Safe Gaming Week
In Cyprus, the National Betting Authority EAS will hold the ninth Safe Gaming Week, dedicated to responsible participation in gambling. The campaign will run from October 12 to 18 and will focus on prevention, self-control and safe gaming, Cyprus Mail reports.
Myths as part of the campaign
This year's information campaign will use the images of four characters from Greek mythology — Odysseus, Achilles, Midas and Icarus. EAS explained that their stories are intended to illustrate behavioral risks associated with gambling: the need for self-control and foresight, the belief that problems will not affect a particular person, greed, the desire for more and excessive self-confidence.

Focus on early risk detection
The Betting Authority said it seeks to shift the discussion from a general understanding of risks to their early recognition. A series of events and information campaigns for a broad audience are planned during the themed week.
EAS stressed that awareness of one's own limits, self-control and timely identification of behavior that may lead to a loss of control are important protective factors. The campaign's goal is to establish an approach under which gambling remains a form of entertainment.
