Hokkaido to raffle off a free overnight stay in Poké Ball-shaped accommodation
In the city of Tomakomai on Japan’s Hokkaido island, 10 pairs of guests will be able to win a free stay in themed Poké Ball-shaped accommodation — a ball from the Pokémon franchise. The raffle will be held on social media, The Japan Times reports.
A ball by the lake
The accommodation is located in a forested area of Tomakomai near a lake. It is a standalone red-and-white spherical module with a diameter of three meters, inspired by the Poké Ball — an item from the Pokémon franchise.
The facility was designed by the architects behind the Not A Hotel hotel group. The organizers call it a hotel, although its format resembles a separate room in a capsule hotel. Inside, there is a bed, air conditioning and lighting, while bathroom facilities have been arranged nearby.

Raffle terms
The project is being implemented in partnership by Not A Hotel and Pokémon Sleep, an app for tracking sleep and well-being that was partly developed by The Pokémon Company. Instead of open bookings, the organizers will select winners through a social media raffle.
Only Japanese residents aged 18 and over who have the Pokémon Sleep app can apply. To participate, they must follow the app’s official account on X, publish a post using the campaign button, and complete the application form and survey sent via direct message.
Applications will be accepted until September 30, 2026. The selected pairs will be able to stay at the accommodation from October 8 to 18, 2026. The two-day, one-night stay, as well as dinner and breakfast, will be free, but guests will have to cover travel costs to the location and other related expenses themselves.
