September in Cyprus retains summer weather and warm sea
In Cyprus, September remains a summer month: daytime temperatures on the coast usually range from 29–32°C, while sea water warms to 28–29°C. It can be hotter during the day in Nicosia, while temperatures are noticeably lower in the Troodos Mountains, reports Cyprus Mail.
Temperatures on the coast and in the mountains
According to long-term climate data from Cyprus’ Department of Meteorology, the average daytime temperature in September is about 29°C in Paphos, 30–31°C in Limassol, 31°C in Larnaca, and 31–32°C in Ayia Napa and the island’s southeast. In Nicosia, average daytime highs reach 33–34°C, while in mountainous Prodromos they are 24–25°C.
Rainfall on the coast is infrequent in September: the monthly precipitation total at major coastal weather stations is only a few millimetres. At the same time, local thunderstorms can bring substantial rainfall in a short period. Temperatures above 35°C are possible primarily in inland areas of the island.
The sea remains among the warmest of the year
Sea temperatures around Cyprus in September usually remain at 28°C and can reach 29°C. This is close to the annual maximum, as the Mediterranean Sea warms more slowly than land and gradually releases the heat accumulated during summer. At the beginning of the month, the weather is more reminiscent of August: temperatures on the coast often reach 30–32°C, and nights remain warm.

By the end of September, daytime temperatures on the coast more often range from 28–30°C, while evenings become more comfortable. At the same time, the weather remains suitable for a beach holiday throughout the month.
Resorts operate as usual
September is an important month of the tourist season in Cyprus. Hotels, restaurants, beach bars, water sports centres, diving centres, car rental services and tourist attractions operate as usual. After school holidays end in the United Kingdom and continental European countries, there are usually fewer families with children at resorts, although Ayia Napa, Protaras and other popular locations remain busy.
Accommodation costs may decrease after the August peak, although prices depend on dates and demand. The publication cites examples of data for 2026: the average base hotel price was about $184 in August and $169 in September. For villas, the median daily rate fell from €552 in August to €409 in September.
