Two new members of parliament from the “Servant of the People” faction—Bogdan Morklyanik and Viktoria Reznikova—have joined the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. They replaced Denys Maslov and Vitaliy Bezgin, who were appointed to government positions.

Bohdan Morklyanik previously worked in the fields of education and public administration. From 2008 to 2014, he served as vice rector for research, teaching, and social development at Lviv Polytechnic National University, as well as a professor in the Department of Strength of Materials and Structural Mechanics.

Later, Morklyanik served as an advisor to First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development and Trade Stepan Kubiv, headed the state agency “Ukrainian National Office of Intellectual Property and Innovation,” and served as deputy chairman of the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance.

In 2019, he unsuccessfully ran for the Verkhovna Rada as a candidate for the “Servant of the People” party. In 2022, Morklyanik was drafted into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He has now taken over the seat vacated by Denys Maslov, who became head of the Ministry of Justice.

Viktoria Reznikova has a background in law and academia. From 2005 to 2011, she taught at the Khmelnytsky Institute of Social Technologies at Ukraine University.

From 2011 to 2019, Reznikova worked as an associate professor and professor in the Department of Commercial Law at the Faculty of Law of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. From 2012 to 2017, she was a member of the Scientific Advisory Council at the High Commercial Court of Ukraine.

From 2019 to 2024, she headed the Department of Commercial Law at the Faculty of Law of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

Like Morklyanik, Reznikova unsuccessfully ran for a seat in the Verkhovna Rada in 2019 as a candidate for the “Servant of the People” party. This year, she received a parliamentary seat to replace Vitaliy Bezgin, who was appointed head of the Ministry of Communities, Territories, and Internally Displaced Persons.

Prior to this, draft law No. 15431 was registered in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, which provides for a large-scale reform of the hunting industry, the digitization of the sector, and changes to hunting regulations. At the same time, the bill has already drawn sharp criticism from animal rights and environmental organizations, which are calling on members of parliament to reject it as early as the first reading.

As a reminder, the Verkhovna Rada prematurely terminated the mandates of MPs Denys Maslov and Vitaliy Bezgin, who were members of the “Servant of the People” faction. Parliament adopted the relevant resolutions at a plenary session on July 17.
