Zelenskyy dismisses Prosecutor General Kravchenko amid investigation
In Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has dismissed Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko amid an investigation into alleged facilitation of fraudulent call centers. The dismissal decree was published on the president’s website, Anadolu Agency reports.
Earlier, Zelenskyy called on the Verkhovna Rada to support Kravchenko’s dismissal without delay. In a Telegram post, the president said there was only one path for the prosecutor general — dismissal from office — and added that Kravchenko could regard this as political pressure.
Operation Carthage
Kravchenko submitted his resignation on September 7 after searches conducted by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office as part of Operation Carthage.
The investigation concerns an alleged criminal organization suspected of receiving bribes from fraudulent call centers in exchange for allowing them to operate without hindrance. Kravchenko denied involvement in the alleged scheme and said that the accusations against him had not been confirmed.

Kravchenko’s statements and NABU’s response
On Monday, Kravchenko said that he had signed a notice of suspicion against NABU Director Semen Kryvonos. According to him, it concerns the alleged falsification of official documents to obtain an unlawful benefit on an especially large scale.
Kravchenko also said that a second notice of suspicion had been issued against a person close to SAPO head Oleksandr Klymenko. According to Kravchenko, this person may have influenced judges of the High Anti-Corruption Court, offered them unlawful benefits, and helped people avoid mobilization.
NABU said that Kryvonos had not received a formal notice of suspicion and called Kravchenko’s statements a continuation of a systematic attack on the independence of anti-corruption institutions. According to parliamentary officials, the Verkhovna Rada’s vote on Kravchenko’s dismissal is expected on Tuesday.
