Arshad Nadeem finished fifth at a tournament in Budapest, Hungary — Dawn
Pakistani track and field athlete Arshad Nadeem finished fifth in the javelin throw at the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest, Hungary. His best result of the season was 81.49 m on his third attempt. As Dawn reports, Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Pathirage won with a javelin throw of 91.09 m in the fourth round.
Competition results
Anderson Peters of Grenada took second place with a result of 86.18 m, while Germany’s Julian Weber won bronze with 85.89 m. Weber took the lead on his first attempt with 84.09 m. Peters surpassed that result in the second round, while Pathirage threw 85.69 m in the same round. Weber later improved his result to 85.89 m.
Pathirage also recorded 87.11 m before throwing 91.09 m in the fourth round. Under the tournament format, only the top four athletes advanced to the decisive fourth round, so Nadeem ended his performance after three throws.

Nadeem’s performance
Nadeem opened the competition with 74.42 m, threw 79.66 m on his second attempt, and his third was his best at 81.49 m. In the 2026 season, he also finished ninth at a competition in Switzerland and did not reach the final round of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, where his best result was 77.41 m.
At the 2024 Paris Olympics, Nadeem won the gold medal with a record result of 92.97 m. The men’s javelin throw final at the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya is scheduled for September 28.
