Australia wins IWBF Wheelchair Basketball World Championship — ABC News Australia
Australia’s national wheelchair basketball team defeated Italy 81:57 in the final of the IWBF Men’s World Championship held in Ottawa, Canada. According to ABC News Australia, the Rollers claimed their third title in history.
Third world title
The Australians completed the tournament undefeated. The Rollers had previously become world champions in 2010 and 2014, making the current victory the team’s first world title in 12 years.
Italy also reached the gold-medal match undefeated, but the Australian team took the lead in the first quarter and maintained its advantage in every subsequent period of the game.

Final match leaders
Jaylen Brown was the Rollers’ top scorer with 28 points. Captain Tom O'Neill-Thorne recorded 20 points, 16 assists and seven rebounds. Bill Latham added 12 points, seven rebounds and two assists.
Australia outperformed its opponents in assists, 29 to 19, and rebounds, 35 to 25. The Rollers also forced the Italians into 13 turnovers, while committing nine turnovers themselves.
