Great Britain and Germany reach Davis Cup Final 8 — Asharq Al-Awsat
In London, Great Britain, and Halle, Germany, the Great Britain and Germany teams secured places in the Davis Cup Final 8. The British team defeated Ecuador 3-0, while the Germans secured their place in the Final 8 in their tie against Croatia, Asharq Al-Awsat reports.
Great Britain's victory in London
Henry Patten and Neal Skupski earned the decisive point for the British, defeating Diego Hidalgo and Gonzalo Escobar 6-3, 6-4 in the doubles match. In the first set, the British duo converted the only break, and in the second they moved ahead in the ninth game before serving out the victory.
The day before, Toby Samuel defeated Andres Andrade, while Arthur Fery overcame Alvaro Guillen Meza. After the match, Patten said the team was pleased to have finished the tie in the first Sunday match.

Zverev beats Prizmic
In Halle, Alexander Zverev defeated Croatian Dino Prizmic 6-2, 6-4. The world No. 2 broke the 21-year-old opponent's serve three times and did not allow him to earn a single break point. The match lasted 77 minutes.
The day before, Zverev beat Matej Dodig in two sets. Prizmic then levelled the tie, but a doubles victory by Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz put the German team back in front. Germany can win its first Davis Cup title since 1993.
Spain also took a 2-0 lead in its tie against Chile in Santiago after singles victories by Daniel Merida and Rafael Jodar. The winner of this pair will join Italy, Great Britain, Germany, the Czech Republic, South Korea, Austria and Canada in the Final 8. The Davis Cup Final 8 will take place in Bologna on November 24-29.
